Sellwood Kitchen

For this 1920s kitchen, we opened up what was once a cramped space with a seating cubby and dark cabinetry to an open plan with floating shelves, rift-sawn oak lower cabinets and painted uppers. There’s now space for family to eat in at the peninsula and still have plenty of room for the cook and long counters for food prep. We rebuilt the old back porch and incorporated it into the kitchen. It now acts as a cozy mudroom with a built-in cubby for shoes and coats.
